About Us

Founded in 1984 by John Katz, an ardent supporter of our Town's youth, Ridgefield Youth and Family Services (RYFS) is a private, not-for-profit agency supported by the State of Connecticut, the Town of Ridgefield, local organizations and private donors. We aim to improve the lives of Ridgefield families by providing professional therapeutic counseling and related services for youth, families and seniors. In addition to counseling, we offer coaching and support groups for parents, coordinate the Ridgefield Youth Diversion Team, and support the Ridgefield Community Coalition Against Substance Abuse (RCCASA).

FAQs

Common Questions

Does the agency accept insurance?

We accept most forms of health insurance, including Medicaid, Medicare, and private insurance. If we cannot accept your insurance, or you have not met your annual deductible, we will typically ask you to pay us an amount equivalent to what your insurance would normally pay. If you are experiencing financial hardship, we will work out an arrangement that is feasible for your family.

Does RYFS provide counseling for adults/couples?

Our focus has been and continues to be on children and their families. Nevertheless, we have historically worked with, and continue to work with. adults on a case-by-case basis. These are typically local residents with limited resources. We are currently exploring the feasibility of expanding our services to accomodate more of Ridgefield's adults and seniors.
